Homeowners Beware of New Scam

Apparently there is a new scam being used on vacant homes in our area. The scammer contacts a tree company and asks to have a tree cut down. The contractor quotes a price and the scammer pays with a fraudulent check that is more than the contractors bid. The scammer then asks for the over payment to be paid back.

The contractor cuts down the tree(s) and the homeowner is out of luck because their property has been damaged.

This scam was attempted on a homeowner in out subdivision.

Be Careful! Beware!
